Sonia and her business partner, Armando Silva, worked together in the insurance business at other agencies before pooling their resources, expertise, and caring attitudes to form Alliance Trucking Insurance. Focused on commercial trucking, their clients include fleets and owner-operators. “Our portfolio currently encompasses about 80% owner-operators. We are working with more and more fleet operators, and our strategic plan is to eventually have a 50-50 mix,” said Armando. Their services cover OTR (over-the-road) and final mile, among others.

Armando describes his approach as “old school,” taking their fiduciary responsibility seriously. “We want to know our clients, really know them,” he says. “We go to see them; face-to-face conversations work best toward building great relationships. We’ve traveled all over the country and the world to conduct great meetings in person,” Armando said.
Clients who make the effort to gain knowledge of the insurance product they are buying are their favorites. “An educated consumer is the best customer,” Sonia said.
Armando and Sonia’s success as a team is based on years of working together. “We field twenty to thirty calls per day for quotes,” Sonia said. “We have a small staff to help us, but we have great chemistry and get a lot done every day, helping clients.” Armando stresses the importance of being small and nimble and knowing the client. “We think our secret sauce is we have a vested interest. In the insurance business, not everyone you reach on a call has that. Often you have a barrage of customer service representatives who field calls and represent the business. They shield the owner from all that. But for us, the buck stops here,” he said. “We get a charge helping someone and earning their business. We want to give them peace of mind for the rest of their working lives,” Sonia continued.
